JenX Pada Festival: fighting streetism through art

Some street children in Accra had their faces lit with joy and merry on Saturday, August 27, 2022 during the JenX Pada Festival.

The festival which was organized by JenX Youth Hub International targeted children living on the streets with talents in the various arts. It was organized to climax the month of August which was set by the organization to renovate its office space which is expected to host subsequent youth programs.

The event which was held on the forecourt of Eat Avenue in Teshie was to help the organization identify and nurture street children with various talents to help create a better life and future for them.

All kinds of arts such as drawings, painting, rap music and dance were on display at the event.

Chief Executive Officer of the Hub, Mrs. Winifred Nana Yaa Otoo said the objective of JenX is to give street children a sense of belonging and love. “JenX is about discovering inherent gifts that are in a person to help the person excel. We ensure that the necessary environment needed to help unearth talents is created for these children and what happened here today is no different. “We created this festival to bring out the creativity of these young ones in the form of painting, drawing and dancing and it is something we will wish to maintain with the needed sponsorship and right partnership.”

Speaking on behalf of the street children, Atta Kojo expressed joy of the activities of the Hub which he said has been of immense benefit to him and his friends. “I would like to thank everyone that contributed to make this event possible, especially the staff of JenX and our loving father, Lucky. We pray for the continuity of JenX so they can continue to help us and fight for us.”
